Gnome Garden

I have been wanting to do up a gnome garden, cos I don't have small fairies, for a long while now. I've had pieces poured and decided to just make one. It didn't come out quite like I imagined in my mind but I still love it. I wanted simple pieces and didn't add any flowers at this point. I had a large church we fired that broke so I decided to hang on to some of the pieces and added the door of the church to my garden. I think I need to paint it and the base. I also have painted a small mini pot to resemble a tree and thinking I could put it upside down and get some elevation in the piece or put it right side up and insert a small plant that maybe hangs out of the sides of the pot. I just love pieces that are so versatile and changeable year after year if I get bored of it!! So, we are doing a two part class for the garden. The first will be April 1st offered at 10-12, 1-3pm or 4-6pm and then April 22nd to assemble the garden and take it home. You can bring in your own plants if you choose. I figured 10 pieces would be plenty for the garden but if you add plants, 10 may be to many. But hey, that just means you have extra pieces to make another at home. So I used some broken pieces on mine. I had a small rabbit that fell over during the Nov. 2016 gas explosion in town and the ears broke off. I sanded them down so they wouldn't be sharp and painted it like a squirrel instead. Just no bushy tail. I had a deer that also had a broken ears and did the same with it. I LOVE mushrooms so of course I added several. I painted mine in light neutral colors of gray and tan. I actually used a speckled Vanilla Dip and silver Lining to color them. I also have 3 sizes of butterflies and painted 2. I put a dark blue on the piece and let the paint fill the groovy design and then wiped the wings of excess color. Then I painted over them with a light green on one and a yellow on the other. I forget the actual colors I used for those. I hot glued them to a piece of stiff wire I found laying around the store and so they appear to be flying about. I choose the gnome that appears to be gardening as it seemed fitting and I liked it better than the other gnome I have available. I painted him a bright yellow thinking if I added plants the yellow would make him stand out, but also be like sunshine for the plants. I know, I'm odd!! Actually, I'm not crazy, I'm just Creatively Insane!! I had that as a screen saver for a while on an old phone. I just loved it!! I've always been told I'm a little out there. So I hope you enjoy the gnome garden and sign up for the class and create your own or let me know you are interested but the dates don't work and we can see about setting another date. Below are the pieces to choose from and below that is the garden I did as an example. I didn't paint the base yet cos I wasn't sure if I wanted it green for grassy or brown for like the top of a tree stump??
